Excited Light
A story of magic and second chances
Amazon.com top seller, debuting at #515
Ten-year-old Alex Griffin has plenty of secrets. At night, from his
third-floor bedroom in a drafty Victorian mansion, Alex surveys the
world of Iowa city, reads science fiction novels, and dreams about
what life would be like if he weren't taking care of his single,
alcoholic mom, Allegra Bellini. He confides his secrets to his beat-up
toy duck, Dudley.
Dudley answers him.
Along the way, Alex relies on several adult friends to cope. Neighbor
Jack Kerry, a doctoral student in physics, lets Alex's mind run free
as they discuss everything from the boundaries of the universe to
whether angels are photons of light. Julie Rafferty, Alex's godmother,
keeps a tight reign on Allegra, checking up on Alex when he's home
alone. Mrs. Wildwood, a sharp-eyed herbalist and Tarot-card reader,
lets Alex know his spiritual visions may just be as real as he imagines
them to be.
Mrs. Wildwood warns Allegra of the coming of a Black Knight, an
arrogant and destructive seducer. Allegra pays no heed and rushes into
a reckless romance with Raf Neri, the managing editor of the newspaper
where Allegra works as a clerk. Neri sweeps her away on a wild ride of
bar-hopping, sex, and promises.
One night, Neri goes a step too far, losing control of his Alfa-Romeo
on a rainy summer night. Paramedics rush Allegra to the hospital,
where she lies on the brink of death. Alex knows it's up to him to
save his mother. Guided by Dudley and his spiritual visitors, Alex
travels to the hospital, gets past the nurses and guards, and works a
miracle -- a miracle that starts Allegra on the path to freedom from
her addiction.

My wife insisted I read your book to her so we just finished it! She
said it gave her nice dreams!
Rev.Christopher Whedon
I just wanted to take the time to say your book has been the only True
light in my life during very dark times for me! It is my peace, my
escape, my guide to help me find the light I seem to have lost once
again...
Holly Morgan, Garland, TX
I loved it so much, I'm reading it twice!

Excited Light is a perfect mixture of realism and fantasy. The
story touches on many different emotions. You will not want to put it
down once you begin.
