What ancient secrets lie in the in the data that Derek Nilsson is
seeking?
Why are people willing to kill to get it?
In KISS OF ISIS, Derek's world turns upside down as he chases a prize
that's ancient and alluring. The computer wizard is a programmer by
day; at night, he pounds the keyboard working with his pal, George
Esterberg, to find a treasure trove of Internet information left by
jailed hacker, Seth Stonegate.
But things aren't as they seem. A sexy-sounding stranger named Isis
picks Derek out of the Internet chat room for geeks and offers him a
key to the code. He hesitates, because he's only recently begun a
romance with a young woman, Kyra Ten Eyck. But Isis is determined and
sets her bully boys on Derek. Determined to follow the datastream to
get some answers, Derek leaves home, races along the path of old Route
66, ending up in Indian territory near Santa Fe, NM.
In a beat-up old shack, he finds part of the data treasure, Isis, and
the father he grew up hating. Derek socks his dad in the nose, only to
find he judged the old man too soon. Charlie Nilsson is a recovering
alcoholic who's reformed his life. Later, seductive Isis gets Derek
alone and explains why the numbers on the hard disk are so
important. They are based on sacred numbers of Thoth, and represent an
ancient Egyptian formula for moving objects by sound. Anyone who
possesses that technology could control a fearsome weapon. And Isis
wants Derek to help her find them.
Breaking free of Isis' grip, Derek finds himself on the thrill ride of
his life. However, he learns the hard way that once kissed by Isis,
even the clearest-thinking adventurer can never be the same.
